In terms of amenities
the village of Woore has shrunk. This contrasts with
a growing population and increasing number of houses.
Where there was once three grocery shops, a post office
and two butchers, there is now one shop serving all.
The store has diversified to meet demand and to survive.
Videos are for hire, there is a dry cleaning service,
photo processing is offered and snacks and sweets are
on sale. The shop is also a Lotto centre. The village
benefited from passing trade created by Bridgemere Garden
World. This has been lost since the village garage closed.
The photograph shows Karen
Malkin, sales assistant and Terry Sault, the post master.
