The
German based yogurt manufacturer employs nearly 900
people at its plant
in Market Drayton. The site, first developed in 1991,
is the base for the company’s UK operations and
has seen an investment of over £54 million. New
building work which started in 2000 amounts to a further
investment of £34 million.
The
company recognizes the importance of the food industry
not just to Market
Drayton but to the North Shropshire region. The Muller
Community Trust has donated £46,000 to local
causes since it was set up in 1994. One of the most
recent projects was a £4,000 sum given towards
the refurbishment of the childrens’ section of
the Clive Library in Market Drayton. The food industry
lies at the heart of the local community and investment
in causes such as this emphasize the company’s
commitment to the region.
