Cheese fairs were held
every three weeks in Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Shrewsbury,
Wem and Whitchurch. During the 1920s, an average of
1,411 tons of cheese was sold at Whitchurch fair each
year. This photograph from about 1910 gives an indication
of the scale of this production.
