Laura has worked as a Primary Care Manager since leaving University
with her degree in Business Studies and MBA. Laura is presently
Area Manager of North Area of the Shropshire County Primary Care
Trust Her remit extends from Oswestry and the Welsh border across
the county to Market Drayton.
The North Area PCT is responsible for bringing
health improvements to the population of northern Shropshire by
providing quality community based health facilities through a range
of independently contracted doctors and allied health workers, including
pharmacists, opticians and dentists together with appropriate nursing
and administrative support. The work is re-enforced by an array
of partnerships with other local organisations and a strategy to
promote preventive medicine through healthy eating, physical activity
and a healthy life style. Diet is an essential part of personal
health care.
Laura lives in Chester, commutes to the office
in Oswestry and travels over the north and across the County as
she also has the lead responsibility for Diabetes in Primary Care
in Shropshire and is Chair of the county wide
Coronary Heart Disease
task group. There is a correlation between unhealthy eating habits
and diabetes and obesity is a high risk factor in inducing chronic
heart disease and strokes. |
