Carol and Miller own Sherwood Wholefoods, a friendly shop that specialises in GM free foods. They cater for a large range of needs and special diets such as Soya, gluten free, dairy and wheat free products and others suitable for people with diabeties. Their interest in the trade goes back 20 years, to the time that they worked their friends' 'The Grain Store' stall in the indoor market. Carol's enthusiasm grew and they both share the concern that people are not aware of what is healthy to eat. Originally 'Sherwood Wholefoods' was next door, but just over 10 years ago it moved onto the opposite side of Wilkinson Walk, where is remains today. Both Carol and Miller run the shop and they employ local part time staff. There is an extensive range
of organic foods from fresh fruit and vegetables to flour, pastas,
fruits and pulses. Also, there is a choice of chilled foods and
a large selection of herbal supplements, vitamins, and minerals
with homeopathy and herbal and flower remedy tinctures. In addition,
there is a multitude of healthy snack foods which are suitable
for lunch boxes and quick nibbles. Their selections include those
that have no added sugar, colours or preservatives.

| The shop also offers the facility of a touch screen computer, which is positioned to offer the customers the utmost privacy. The computer is available to deal with enquires and interest of health concerns, supplements and nutritional advice. Carol is currently training to be a nutritionist and both are more than happy to advise customers, even to the extent of offering culinary hints and tips if people purchase less familiar products. They are just as happy for people to drop in with any concerns or phone the shop.
