Sarah
works at the Community Information Point. She is constantly in touch
with members of the community who, themselves, are linked to food
related activities in the area. Sarah moved to Market Drayton in
1997 with her husband who is currently working at Oswestry School.
She has two daughters, Louisa and Polly who both attend
schools in the area. As a shopper, Sarah purchases locally produced
food. She is attracted to the idea of raising the profile of the
links between businesses in the town and surrounding area and is
very positive about the impact this will have on the community.
She is appreciative of the investment that the food manufacturers
have made in the area. As a French speaker, Sarah is interested
in the twinning of Market Drayton and Pezenas and hopes to visit
the town sometime in the near future.
Three local authorities
fund the Community Information Point: the town, district and county
councils. The service is a one-stop shop for information about
their activities and provides a presence in the town where people
of all ages and walks of life, can bring their queries about
Council services and take their concerns. There is a particular
need for for better public transport , which is improving as we
write.
