Ron runs Micron2 a local company offering specialist inspection of food factories and consultant services for grocery retailers nationwide.

After graduation, Ron become the first microbiologist appointed by Tesco. He then took time out to get his Ph.D and joined Associated British Foods in their Central Laboratories in Maidenhead. He inspected their factories for food hygiene. He then joined Fine Fare Supermarkets testing their own brand products and visiting their suppliers. There he developed new skills as a chemist for food analysis. He moved to to the North East working for Hinton a regional supermarket group when he was head hunted as technical director for Sitoni Foods in Whitchurch a company importing pasta. The family moved into Market Drayton. Ron's work involved extensive travel to Italy as well as setting up the Whitchurch Factory. When the company was taken over by Pasta foods, Ron set out on his own as a consultant. He then joined with a partner to form Micron2, where he found an outlet for his skills in both chemistry and biology by creating an accredited laboratory.

Ron sold off the laboratory in 2001 and narrowed his activities. He now has 9 staff mainly doing inspection work. Ron spends much of his time working with the SPAR chain checking contents against labels. He travels less to Italy. He is currently a member of the working group which reviews the British Retail Consortium Global Standards for food. He has jointly edited two books: Pasta and Semolina Technology' and two editions of the 'Food Industries Manual' a 600 plus pages guide to food manufacturing. Ron is a member of the BRC advisory group where he represents SPAR

Ron is much taken with the location of his offices. From his windows he can see the bustle of activity on its banks and follow the movement of boats along the waterway. He is pleased that he has been able to create jobs, most of them permanent. His passion is Salsa Dancing and together with Eve he is part of a network of dancers who have travelled as far as Barcelona to dance. Ron loves the music and the freedom of movement as well as enjoying the friendship and mix of the salsa community. He helps to run the Club Candela in Shrewsbury and writes Midlands Roundup pieces for the Dancevine Magazine.
