Mike has worked for Palethorpes for
15 years. He has cooked 800 chickens a day, produced 1500 litres
of filling for hot pies and now makes computer entries for the distribution
of the finished products.
Mike was a Master Chef in the British Army. He was posted to the
local barracks and stayed on in the town when he retired. He has
cooked all over the world and for visitors to the various camps
in which he has served, including the Queen and Prince Charles.
He was a member of the team that made Princess Diana's wedding cake.
He occasionally acts as an agency chef.
Mike was elected Chairman of the
Market Drayton British Legion Club in 1996 and this has become part
of his life. With 550 members the club is the biggest social club
in town and the lounge bar is a meeting place. Club membership is
not confined to service and ex-servicemen and women but, like the
club facilities, is open to members of the general public. The club
has the largest function room in Market Drayton and caters for private
events from Christening parties to Funeral wakes as well as social
activities including family nights. |
