Kim was born in Market Drayton. His first job was as a delivery boy from the Cushing's shop at 207, Shrewsbury Rd. The shop later became Griffiths the Bakers. He remembers smelling the early morning bread as he walked by. Kim worked as an agricultural consultant for the Milk Marketing Board.
Gill trained at Radbrook Catering College. They worked together in the kitchens of the Cock Inn in Stapleford. Her parents converted the farmhouse on their dairy farm into Bennett's, a week-end restaurant and together Kim and Gill helped them to run it. Some of the customers asked Gill to make puddings for them so when the farm was sold Gill made them in their own kitchen. In 2000 they moved to bigger premises at 207 Shrewsbury Road, Market Drayton. Both work full time, Gill running the production and Kim the business side.
They produce an extensive variety of high quality cakes and desserts, all hand made to order. They also take orders for bespoke commemoration cakes.
All products are freshly made and contain no colouring, additives or preservatives. They don't advertise or brand their products but deliver to hotels, restaurants, clubs and colleges as far afield as Anglesey and South Staffordshire. They have opened a shop for local customers who can park at the premises. Gill's Puddings employs 16 staff including 4 van drivers. Their customer base has been built up by word of mouth drawing particularly on the recommendations of chefs. As chefs often move on, Gill's Puddings tend to keep the business at the place they leave and gain more orders from their new location.
