Janet co-ordinates the development of the Centre of Vocational Excellence at Reaseheath College near Nantwich. Reaseheath is a Further Education College and the first food based college in Cheshire to be presented with the CoVE Award in foodchain technology.She works with the Learning Skills Council and a range of employers, schools and food organisations including the North West Food Alliance, to provide support for businesses and employees across Cheshire and Warrington. The College support for Dairy producers extends Nationwide.
Janet was born and raised in Cheshire. She was persuaded by her Home Economics teacher at school to take up a career in food. When she left school she worked for Northern Foods in Oldham on the production of fresh and frozen confectioney for Marks and Spencers.Working in Technical roles she moved on through a number of food production sites who produced for the major retailers. She has always lived in and around Manchester but one job took her to Plymouth where she left home at 4am on Mondays to start work in Plymouth at 9am and battled back home in the Friday night traffic. The CoVE project has given her the opportunity to do something new and local. She enjoys sharing her experiences and working with a variety of organisations in food manufacturing at the colleg which is sited in pleasant grounds, close to the market town of Nantwich. |
